STEP 1. ARTWORK AND COLORS
The first step in the screen printing process once you have finalized your design, is to work out how many colors you would like printed, and what colors they are. If you’ve
only got one color to print, then you can skip ahead to the next step and decide your garments!
We have to set up one screen for each color in the design, so the more colors in
your design, the higher the cost.
4 COLORS
In this example, we’d use a halftone to print the details, and each screen would have a different color (red, light grey, dark grey and black).
If this design were to be printed on a dark garment, we’d need an additional white base color, which would require an additional screen.
2 COLORS
In this example, we’d separate the peach from the black. Each needing its own screen, so we’d have one screen for the peach and one for black.
If this were printed on a dark garment, we’d need an additional white base colour to make sure the peach prints well.
INK TYPES
PLASTISOL
In our opinion, this is the best kind of ink available for screen printing for a few reasons. It’s exceptionally versatile, rarely needs adjustments, doesn’t dry unless properly cured, and has unmatched durability. This results in a shirt that lasts a lifetime.
WATER-BASED
Water-based inks are a good choice when a “soft hand” is desirable. A soft hand is the condition where the ink can’t easily be felt with the hand. This affect is often used as an argument for why it is preferable to plastisol, as plastisol has more of a hand than water-based.
DISCHARGE
Discharge ink is a water-based ink that you use on 100% cotton dark garments to give it a soft hand feel. It’s created by adding a discharge agent to water based ink that removes the dyes in the fabric and replaces them with the desired ink color.

STEP 2. SOURCING GARMENTS
You’ve got your design finalized, and now you need the perfect garment to print it on. We are able to provide high quality garments that have been tried and tested with our industry standard printing equipment.
We’re able to provide a wide variety of hoodies, t-shirts, sweatshirts, accessories and more. If you’d like, you can provide your own garments, but this will incur a small charge as we have to check each individual garment is suitable for printing.
PRINT POSITIONS
MAXIMUM PRINT AREAS
Everything has a limit, and that applies to printing too. Our adult mock ups below represent a size medium/large. These will slightly vary dependent on design and garment.
Jumbo prints incur an additional charge. A pro tip from us, is to print out your design exactly to scale how you’d like it and lay it out flat on a spare t-shirt. Too small, too big, you’ll visually notice straight away.
